Lady's mantle herb

Scientific name: Alchemilla vulgaris L.

Synonyms: Silverweed, Ladies mantle

Family: Rosaceae

Where the plant is found: Europe, Asia, North America

Characteristics: The leaves are silky hairy on the underside and have so-called secretion glands. In damp weather, you can see so-called guttation droplets hanging from each leaf tip.

Use & preparation

Use
For diarrhea, stomach and intestinal upsets, menstrual cramps.

Effect 

Astringent, calming, blood-forming, blood-purifying, haemostatic, diuretic, antispasmodic, tonic 

Tea preparation

Pour 250 ml boiling water over 1 heaped teaspoon, leave to infuse for 10 minutes, strain and drink warm.

 

Dosage

Drink 2 to 3 cups a day as required. 

 

Notes

Lady's mantle herb contains so-called elagitannins 

and also has an antioxidant effect.
