Synonyms: Medicinal plantain, wound plantain

Family: Plantaginaceae        

Occurrence of the plant: Distributed throughout Europe, North and Central Asia. 

Characteristics: Light to grey-green, non-hairy or slightly hairy leaf pieces with almost parallel whitish-green nerves that are clearly visible on the underside.

Application & preparation

Ribwort plantain leaves 

Application 

For coughs, asthma, colds, bladder weakness, diarrhea, inflammation of the intestinal mucosa and hemorrhoids.

Effect

antibacterial, astringent, hemostatic, anti-inflammatory, blood purifying, expectorant  

Tea making

Pour boiling water over 2-4 g of ribwort plantain herb and strain it through a tea strainer after 10 minutes.

dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed: Drink one cup of Spitzweg tea three times a day.
